At Cassidy Methodist Church our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
Cassidy is a loving, caring church where God ministers to the world through us, and everyone is welcome.
We are commissioned by Jesus Christ, we proclaim the gospel through teaching, preaching, worshiping; then by living what we learn we minister to all individuals and families as we help those in need.
Congregational Methodists are conservative, evangelical Christians in the Wesleyan Arminian tradition.
Our faith is grounded in the infallible, inerrant, inspired Word of God.
We believe that the scriptures are God's revelation of Himself to us, as well as the rule of faith, containing all the truth necessary for faith and Christian living.
We Love.
We Connect
We Serve.
We Give.
We Grow.
Pastor
Pastor Tom has served at Cassidy for the since 2014. During his service to the fellowship at Cassidy, his emphasis has focused on missions and ministries to share the love of Jesus beyond the church walls and into the community. His heart beats for missions serving the Indian Springs community and traveling throughout Tennessee, Kentucky, Costa Rico, the Czech Republic, and Africa.
His overall ministry philosophy is based on Ephesians 4:11-13, “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.“ He strongly believes the church is at its best when the people of the church take ownership of its ministries to share the Good News of Jesus.
Pastor Tom received his Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology and his Doctor of Ministry from Drew University. He is married to Tammy Burke Hancock who shares his passion for missions.
Minister of Music Ministries
Darren Malcolm has gratefully served as Cassidy’s Director of Music Ministries since 2011. He has served as music minister for churches in Kentucky, North Carolina, West and East Tennessee for more than thirty years. He is currently an adjunct Music professor at Northeast State Community College and also teaches private piano and guitar lessons. Darren is a graduate of King University and also holds a Master of Divinity in Worship from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. More importantly, he is husband to Melissa, father to John Paul, Amelia, Will and Annie and grandfather to Hattie. When Darren is not making music, he enjoys biking, reading and hunting for comics!
Parish Nurse
Suzan has served as Parish Nurse at Cassidy Methodist Church since 2015. She and her husband, Barry transferred to Cassidy from another Methodist Church where she had also served as a Parish Nurse. She has been a registered Nurse for over 50 years having received her training at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She has worked in the areas of orthopedics, ophthalmology as a private scrub nurse, and a variety of nursing jobs volunteering in free clinics.
She sees her role as patient advocate, translator. moral support, educator, and screener for common health issues. She believes strongly in the interconnectedness of all areas of life impacting ones mental, physical, emotional, social and spiritual health. If things are amiss in one area, it may show up in the other areas. As members of the Body of Christ, we can all share our gifts and graces to support healing of others in the Body with Christ.
